For years, VLC Media Player has been the undisputed king of desktop video playback. It plays everything, it’s free, and it just works. However, for power users, home theater enthusiasts, and videophiles, “just works” is no longer enough.
These players are freeware or open-source. Always download from official repos or major codec sites (like VideoHelp or CodecGuide) to avoid bundled adware.
