If it’s your personal laptop and you’re stuck, option #2 (shorting the pads) is your best bet. There are YouTube videos specifically for the "Latitude 7480 password reset" that show you exactly which pads to short.

This model uses a chipset-level password stored on the motherboard’s PCH (Platform Controller Hub). Removing the CMOS battery or shorting pins will NOT work on this laptop. You need a different approach.
