Chokher Bali (literally “Sand in the Eye” ), written in 1903 by Rabindranath Tagore, is a landmark novel in Bengali literature. Often translated as “A Grain of Sand” or “Eyesore,” it explores adultery, widowhood, and the repressed desires of women in colonial Bengal.
