lsalive would change that. It would actively test — not assume. It would be the difference between knowing a person is in the building versus knowing they’ll wave back. In Unix philosophy, “everything is a file.” ls lists files. But files can be empty, corrupt, or forgotten. lsalive asks a deeper question: Is there any sentient byte here?
