13: Ramayanam Episode

Through vivid flashbacks, we learn how Ravan, born as the son of sage Vishrava and the rakshasi Kaikesi, performed severe penance for thousands of years, severing his own heads as offerings to Lord Brahma. Impressed, Brahma appears and grants him supreme boons: invincibility against gods, demons, serpents, and celestial beings. However, in his arrogance, Ravan dismisses mortal men as too weak to threaten him, thus leaving a single, fatal loophole.

Emboldened, Ravan wages war against his own half-brother Kubera, the god of wealth, seizing Lanka and the flying chariot Pushpak. He consolidates his rule, commands the demons, and oppresses the three worlds.
