The movie follows the story of Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson), a former CIA operative who has retired to spend more time with his daughter, Kim (Maggie Grace). Kim, a college student, decides to go on a trip to Europe with her friends. However, during a stop in Paris, Kim and her friends are kidnapped by a human trafficking ring.
Bryan receives a call from the kidnappers, demanding that he pay a ransom. However, Bryan decides to take matters into his own hands and sets out to rescue his daughter.
